Less is More for ’24
The older I become the more I have learned the value of the old cliché ‘less is more.’ I remember that, in my younger days, we wanted to live life at a frenetic pace, that there didn’t seem to be enough hours in the day. But, on reflecrtion, I am convinced that I did not get out the rewards for the energy I put in.
“I do not fear a man who has practised a thousand moves once, but a man who has practised one move a thousand times.” – Bruce Lee
But as the years went by, focusing energy on fewer things, but giving them full concentration, provided much better results. It was Bruce Lee who spoke about mastery when he said: “I not fear a man who has practised a thousand moves once, but a man who has practised one move a thousand times.”
And at this time of year, traditional for New Year’s resolutions, strategy planning and so on, let’s think in terms of doing fewer things, but giving them everything we have, embedding them as habits in our lives, and them buidling from them, in the same way, to the next level. Whether it be at a personal or a business level, the same rule applies – master one thing and then move on to the next.
And at the end of the day, this appriach, instead of drining energy, actually energises, enabling us to enjoy life more fully. After all, a laser beam is nothing more than intensely focused light, so let’s approach life that way instead of ‘Like a Candle in the Wind,’ to quote a well-known song.
